7/16/10 - "Wid Winner & the Slipstream" wins "Best Drama Feature" at the Route 66 International Film Festival.  The festival takes place in Springfield, IL and the film will screen on September 18th, 2010, at 7:45 P\M.

 

7/11/10 - To the Mountains! Alex will be resuming his role as Head Instructor at the Youth Filmmaking Summer Session at the Idyllwild School of the Arts.  It will be Alex's 6th year as head instructor and he will again focus on teaching Directing and Cinematography.

 

6/29/10 - Cuckoo! Alex is currently gaffing a 2 day music video with Matthias Koenigsweiser for an upcoming singer/songwriter on the Sony Label.  Details announced soon.

 

6/27/10 - San Francisco - Alex travelled with Cinematographer Matthias Koenigsweiser to gaff a challenging Food Network promo at the old ILM stages near Mill Valley, CA.  Local Key Grip Don Henderson and Rigging Gaffer Jeff Nealon and the San Fran crew were exceptional in their efforts to co-exist with the LA Crew.. 

 

6/25/10 - No Road To Follow - The short film directed by Jeremy Rush, and lensed by Alex O. Gaynor, received it's first press via www.quietearth.com - the website for all things Post-Apocalyptic.  Check out the article by agentorange and a short teaser for the film.

 

6/16/10 - Headed Down South!  Just heard our film "Wid Winner & the Slipstream" has been accepted to screen at this year's Peachtree Village International Film Festival in Atlanta, Georgia this August 19-22.  www.pviff.com will have the official announcement in a few weeks.

 

6/10/10 - 76 Something Different:  Alex is currently gaffing a national spot for 76 Phillips Conoco.  The :30 spot was shot over 2 days and features stop motion photography and over a 100 wardrobe changes.  The ingenious project was helmed by director Alan Poon and HumbleTV.

 

6/1/10 - VESSEL - An ambitious short film about a passenger plane that gets engulfed by a UFO, has Alex working alongside up -and-coming cinematographer  Kyle Klutz.    The film, shot over 7 days on an airplane set, provided many lighting challenges and triumphs as the crew looked to "Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind" for inspiration.  Photos coming soon. 

 

5/27/10 - REUNITED.  Just caught a glimpse of a former project.  "Reunited", a project Alex gaffed with DP Peter Holland in January, just screened at the DGA Theater.

 

5/20/10 - Alex is currently shooting a TV commercial campaign for a new company called iTag.  With Alex as DP, gaffer Layne McIsaac, and Key Grip Mike Matney, the team completed 6 commercial spots for director Adam Doench. The spots are scheduled to air nationally this July.

 

5/8/10 - May has provided three more music videos with the gang at Kelsey Street Productions and Cinematographer Matthias K.  Currently, the videos are going through post production, hopefully links will be available soon.

 

4/20/10 - Shooting in Downtown LA, on the rooftop of the Rossalyn Hotel, Alex is gaffing another video for Nicholodeon.

 

4/15/10 - Reteaming with the Matthias Koenigsweiser, Alex just completed gaffing duties on an ambitious viral campaign video for JVC Mobile and the band "The All American Rejects."  Check out the video here. 

 

4/12/10 - Alex is currently working as a camera operator on the narrative aspect of EA Sports' Fight Night 5 for PS3 and XBox.

 

4/8/10 - Acting as Cinematographer, Alex is shooting a music video for hip hop artist Doc Frank and KK Holliday for director Adam Doench. 

 

3/31/10 - Well, we didn't take home any victories but "Wid Winner & the Slipstream" was nominated for two awards at this year's Methodfest.  Alex Wright was nominated for Best Supporting Actor (among other nominees were Bruce Dern and Steve Buscemi).  And the film itself was nominated for the Maverick Award for Best Low Budget Feature.

 

3/27/10 - Had our first official screening of "Wid Winner & the Slipstream" today!  What a great joy it was to see it on the big screen with the cast and crew.  The audience stuck around afterwards to talk about the film a bit and give some feedback and some praise.  

 

3/25/10 - Attending Methodfest this week and all the various events and parties.  Lots of good people and talented filmmakers at this year's fest.

 

2/16/10 - Just found out that "Wid Winner & the Slipstream" has been invited to screen at the MethodFest Film Festival!  Looks like a great festival with lots of enthusiasm this year and I am stoked that our actors will get to showcase their skills at what is considered "the actor's festival."  Congrats James, Alex W., and Erin!  The film itself will screen in late March.  Stay tuned for details!

  

2/15/10 - A few more gaffing gigs in the can.  A 35mm film entitled "Reunited" with DP Peter Holland and an Anamorphic 35mm period piece entitled "The Bridegroom" again with the talented DP Matthias Koenigsweiser.

 

2/1/10 - Alex just returned from a 3-day tutorial at Idyllwild School of the Arts where he demo'd and gave instruction on the Canon 7d.

 

1/15/10 - A few guiness and some meat pies and I finally made it back safe from the trip abroad.  Lot of photos and 7d footage of me driving our vw golf tdi on "the wrong side of the street." 

 

12/10/09 - It's been a whirl wind end of the year.  Lots of editing hours logged.  I also worked as a lighting technician with old school director Monte Hellman, who shot his new feature Road to Nowhere (2010) on the Canon 5d.   Times are 'a changing!  I also got to work a few days on the new Tron Legacy film as a camera operator for the motion capture house "House of Moves."    And I just finished gaffing a short film on 35mm entitled "Carjack" with cinematographer Pete Villani.

 

8/21/09 - We've finally finished principal photography on "No Road to Follow", directed by Jeremy Rush.

 

8/07/09 - Alex has finally completed filming on his short film Wid Winner & the Slipstream.  Shooting commenced in Lancaster, California. 

 

7/11/09 - Alex has returned to the Idyllwild Arts Academy to teach classes in Directing and Cinematography. 

 

6/15/09 - Performing as the Director of Photography, Alex is heading out to film "No Road to Follow," a post-apocalyptic western about a lone man's search for other survivors.  Alex reteams with former collaborator director Jeremy Rush.

5/25/09 - Alex is working again in the realm of Motion Capture on the upcoming EA game "Dante's Inferno."

 

5/15/09 - Alex is currently working on one of the most anticipated Playstation 3 games of the year "Uncharted 2: Among Thieves"  where he serves as a camera operator during Motion Capture.

 

4/15/09 - Alex is currently gaffing HGTV's flagship show "DesignStar" now in it's fourth season.

 

3/15/09 - Alex serves as Gaffer on the HGTV show "$250K"

 

1/28/09 - Alex and crew have just returned from a 12 day roadtrip from filming from Los Angeles to Louisville and back.  

 

1/15/09 - Alex and the "Slipstream" crew will be embarking on what they hope to be their final days of principal photography.  A small road trip will take them from the Southwest to the Midwest as they gather various scenes that will intercut with existing road trip footage. 

 

12/20/08 - Alex served as cinematographer and rejoined director Jeremy Rush to shoot the pilot episode of "Caribe Road," a TV cop drama starring Hector Luis Bustamante.  (a sneak peak at the footage is coming soon.)

 

10/20/08 - 12/05/08 - Alex serves as an additional gaffer for MTV's new reality show "Tool Academy."

 

9/25/08 - The filming of "Wid Winner & the Slipstream" was underway again, this time in Los Angeles.  The crew assembled to finish three more days of shooting and inch closer to the completion of the film.

 

 

8/15/08 - Alex teamed up with Director Adam Doench and Producer Joe Lomba to shoot the pilot of a new comedy webisode series for sketch comedy veterans Mychal Utecht and Aaron Gingrich known as "Competitive Awesome."

7/06/08  - Alex returned to Idyllwild Academy of the Arts to serve as Head Instructor of the Youth Filmmaking courses in Directing and Cinematography.  This summer was Alex's fourth year as Head Instructor.   

 

6/20/08 - Alex and director Jeremy Rush shot a spec commercial for Adidas sportswear featuring MMA fighter and trainer Ronin Boushnak.  (Link coming soon) 

 

5/15/08 - Alex gaffs a series of Nintendo Wii viral commercials with cinematographer Roberto Blasini. 

 

4/28/08 - Alex traveled to Portland, Oregon to serve as Chief Lighting Technician on two Nike Brazil commercials.  The two spots, shot by Matthias Koenigwieser and directed by Omri Cohen, aired during the 2008 Beijing Olympics.  Watch both Nike commercials here by clicking: "Jump" and "Sick."

  

4/13/08 - Alex and crew headed out Route 66 to Holbrook, AZ to shoot more of his short film Wid Winner & the Slipstream.

3/28/08 - Serving as cinematographer, Alex headed to Colquitt, Georgia to shoot a film and documentary.

 

1/08/08 Alex and fellow filmmakers begin preproduction on a series of professional and spec. commercials.

 

1/06/08 - Alex resumes preproduction on the second portion of his film Wid Winner & the Slipstream.   

 

11/23/07 - Alex is currently reviewing footage from the first portion of principal photography for his latest film.  Filming took place in October in Hawesville, KY.  The second portion of the shoot will begin again in the next few months. 

 

10/17/07 - Principal Photography begins on Alex's next film "Wid Winner & the Slipstream."   

 

8/01/07 - Alex has recently returned from his third year as head instructor of the summer Filmmaking Workshop at Idyllwild Arts.

 

7/01/07 - Alex will be returning to teaching again this summer at Idyllwild School of the Arts.  He will lecture and run workshops in Screenwriting, Directing, and Cinematography.

 

6/11/07 - Alex is currently in the final stages of casting for his upcoming film, Wid Winner & the Slipstream.

 

5/04/07 - Casting begins on Alex's upcoming film Wid Winner & the Slipstream. 

 

 4/28/07 - Alex serves as gaffer on a music video for the song "That Girl" by the band Radiant*.  Director: Collin Redden.  DP: Alan Jacoby.
